Mr. Edgar Brooks.

This morning I heard the sad news that Edgar Brooks has passed away. Edgar was well known and loved for his knowledge and enthusiasm in the modelling community and his knowledge of the Supermarine Spitfire was unequalled.

I never met him in person, but those who did spoke of a true gentleman who was generous with his time, knowledge and research. I came to know of him through various modelling forums over the years and often followed his advice. He made our hobby a better place and he will be sadly missed by us all.

I'd like to raise a glass and thank him for all he did for us. Rest in Peace Edgar,

Blue Skies...................

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings.
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling
mirth of sun-split clouds, and done a hundred
things you have not dreamed of - wheeled
and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence.
Hovr'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along,
and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up, the long, delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
where never lark, or even eagle flew.
And while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
the high untrespassed sanctity of space,
put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
